Procedure to become a volunteer
Your application will follow a strict procedure to protect patients set down by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
You will receive a welcome pack with details of how to apply to become a volunteer at Airedale General Hospital.
The welcome pack will include an application form together with other information about volunteering.
You fill in the application form and return it to the Voluntary Services Department. They will process your application, including taking up the references you have given.
Once the replies has been received from the references and they are satisfactory, you will be asked to attend an informal interview with the Voluntary Services Manager. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check form, Occupational Health forms and training workbook will also be enclosed and these should be filled in and brought to the interview.
You will be asked at the interview your preference for which department to volunteer with. If there are no vacancies the interviewer will suggest other areas which need help.
Once all the checks are complete and approved, you will be contacted to arrange to start on your chosen activity.
If training is necessary you will be shown by another experienced volunteer or a member of the nursing staff.
